Recently, our server-host, featureprice, changed ownership and immediately began its process of going belly-up. Due to their incompetence, we went offline with no notification of what was going on. We've now switched to IX Webhosting and expect to be fully operational again very soon.
Gamingbasics.com will be subject to quite a few changes. For one thing, incomplete RPGs will not be posted. Games such as Legacy of Kain RPG and Endenland will return when they are ready to play as is. Harry Potter RPG and RPG Jr are finished products and will be online before naything else (The Harry Potter RPG board will not be a feature this time. We were spreading ourselves too thin last time and its time to concentrate our efforts).
Features such as the Gamer Connection, Downloads, Character Graveyard, Site Ring, and Fan Features will be uploaded just as they were last time for the time being. This is so our visitors can start using them again immediately, but they will not be receiving much maintanence for the time-being.
Though ezboard has been fairly good to us, it is time for Gamingbasics to have a new, ad-free forum, which will be among the highest priorities to get up and running fast.
We will also soon be proud to present the first episode of our new comic, Gamer King Senshi, the story of a group of gamers and their characters, and the game they play, Monster Quest.
We apologize for vanishing like we did. If featureprice had been managed the way a professional company should be, we would not have been so crippled.
If you have any questions about our new plans, our absence, the situation at featureprice, or current actions, please feel free to contact us.
UPDATE: It seems Featureprice is not the only incompetent/shifty service out there. We've had the misfortune of being involved with more. When we originally signed on with featureprice, the domainname "gamingbasics.com" was automatically registered over dotregistrar.com. When Featureprice went poof, dotregistrar lost contact with them, shortly after being informed they no longer had any authority to touch domainnames of featureprice customers.
Click here to see the dotregistrar notice for more information.
Eventually we were informed that Atlantic.net now has the authority over featureprice domains, but after months and months of trying to contact them, we did not receive a single answer, neither by email or phone. Finally, after exactly 5 months, atlantic sent us an e-mail briefly informing us that dotregistrar has already renewed the domain and is expecting 7DRYs payment from the owner.
We've since heard from a lot of disgruntled dotregistrar customers that dotregistrar has a habit of holding back domain names without allowing owners access so that they can collect the full renewal fee (which explains why everytime we tried to get information from them they simply replied "we can give you no information as you are not the registered contact/owner for this domain"). We're still questioning if their renewal of our name, after having been stripped of the authority by featureprice attorney, was even legal, and the fight rages on.
Until this matter is resolved, we are afraid you will be able to access our website only via the IP adress, http://69.49.232.24/. We hope we can come to some kind of conclusion to this excrutiating mess, and are still awaiting answer from dotregistrar.com
Our advice to you: Please be patient and use our alternate URL for the time being, and stay away from dotregistrar.com, and atlantic.net, unless you are in the mood for a headache and financial screweing that could last you many months.
