The purpose of this site is to keep RPGs alive, dedicated to RPGs and the gaming community. Gamers are a dying breed, and young gamers are rare. Most of them think RPG is a type of video game. Help us fight the war against obscurity. Gamingbasics features some of its own RPGS, such as Endenland and Harry Potter. Features include a character graveyard for characters of any system, a SiteRing, and a gamer connection to help gamers find each other in their area.
I started RPGs with AD&D when I was 14, and I played with other gamers in my age group, though we were all introduced to the game by a friend's older brother who DMd for us when his group was not gaming. I've played a lot of different RPGs, have tried a lot of systems, and the games have grown with us. As we got older and became better gamers, so the RPGs themselves have evolved with us. These days RPGs are tailored to experienced gamers, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for kids to begin gaming.
Any gaming conventions I've seen recently were full of gamers around my age group and up, and I fear if something is not done, one day the world of RPGaming will receive a very hard blow when we gamers grow too old to continue and start dying off. |
